I'm hoping to visit the National Library to research family history, is there anything that I should bring with me?

There are many helpful things you may bring with you for your visit to the National Library. Any facts and notes, particularly full names, dates, locations of ancestors which you may already have gathered will be of use, especially if you have visited other archives offices or libraries. You may, for example, have facts from birth, marriage and death Certificates. Please note that if you intend on consulting original materials, such as wills, you may only use a pencil. You may wish to visit the 'Family History' section on the National Library's website before coming to Aberystwyth. There is some useful information on this site that may be of assistance to your research. You may follow the link provided to get to the relevant web page: http://www.llgc.org.uk/index.php?id=121 Reader surgeries are offered every Wednesday at the National Library as well. They are intended to assist readers to make the most of the Library's collections and services. You need to complete a form, stating the time and the surgery you wish to attend. We offer three different sessions; 'Online Catalogues and Electronic Resources', 'Family and Local History', 'Maps and Photographs'.
