Does the National Library hold any Ordnance Survey Maps, and how is it possible to view them?

The National Library has a vast collection of Ordnance Survey Mapping, which span many years. The Library did not receive mapping under Legal Deposit until 1911, which means that there are gaps in the collection of older OS Maps. However, the Library has managed to obtain the bulk of OS material covering Wales, as well as a large amount of mapping for England and Scotland.

The collection of 6" OS Maps that are held in the National Library are on open access, in the South Reading Room. These are the 1st and 2nd editions.

The collection of 25" OS Maps held in the Library are not on open access, and therefore a non-OPAC request should be made to view them. These are also the 1st and 2nd editions.

Readers may view the modern OS Maps in the South Reading Room, on a specified computer only. The years span from 1998 to the present, and all of the maps can be printed from this computer.
